Kayla Prestel

The Owner and Founder of Feel Good Pilates NYC. She received her Comprehensive 650-hour Pilates Apparatus and Mat training from The Lab under Lawson Harris in DUMBO, Brooklyn in 2015. With a background in weightlifting and long-distance running, Kayla came to the Pilates method with stiff joints and limited mobility from tight, overworked muscles. She experienced how, within a short period of time, Pilates changed her body and brought a higher quality of life.

As a Pilates instructor, Kayla is passionate about discovering the intention and purpose behind every movement so that she can teach her clients to move with intention and purpose. Kayla's approach to teaching is to create the most effective circumstances for the body to release tension and move freely. Students who work with Kayla experience relief from back and neck pain, increased flexibility, and noticeably stronger core muscles leading to improvement in the rest of their day-to-day activities.

Outside of the studio, Kayla enjoys running with New York Road Runners, biking around Manhattan, and enjoying the amazing arts and culture that NYC offers. Kayla completed her 200-hr Pure Yoga Certification in 2021 and has pursued continuing education in Pre-Natal Pilates, Pilates for the Spine, the Mat Expanded, Pilates MELT (Kim Stakmen), Jumpboard, and Wunda chair (Bob Liekens,) certifications. She has also completed courses with Benjamin Degenhardt (360 Pilates) and Diane Diefenderfer (U.C. Irvine).

“Before Pilates,

I thought I was in shape because I could lift heavy weights and run half-marathons. But the truth was, my back and knees hurt all the time and I couldn't even touch my toes! Pilates changed everything for me."

Alexandra Brewster

Studio Manager and Teaching Apprentice

Alexandra, from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, started dancing when she was three years old and hasn't stopped. After high school, she attended the University of Oklahoma, majoring in modern dance and public relations. After college, she moved to New York City to attend the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance. Alex received her Pilates Mat Certification from Good Day Pilates and is in the process of getting her Comprehensive Certification with Power Pilates. A fun fact about Alex is when she was two years old, she broke two fingers on her right hand, and now she can't bend them, good thing she’s left-handed!

While here, she wanted a job that was personal and supported her dancing, so she chose Pilates!
