  • Style: Classical, Athletic/Fitness, Corrective/Rehab

  • Language: English

  • Certifications: Core Pilates (New York, NY)

Helping others move better and feel better is my obsession. I came to Pilates when I was diagnosed with several autoimmune disorders that left me physically, mentally, and emotionally debilitated. Pilates was the gateway that gave me the physical ability, mental stamina, and emotional confidence to incorporate new methods of movement into my daily life. Outside of the studio, I’m running the NYC bridges at sunrise, practicing my kickboxing skills to become a true ninja someday, sampling bourbons and mezcals, or on the sidelines cheering my clients to victory as they run their races.

Liza Ard grew up in Texas with an excess of energy and a curious mind. In 1997, she received her degree in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and moved to the City ( New York). After deciding working inside a lab did not suit her, but solving puzzles always would, she discovered Pilates. Pilates was the perfect melding of movement and thought. Edwina Fountaine, a Balanchine dancer that worked directly with Joe and Clara Pilates, introduced her to the art. With vigor, passion and discipline, Romana Kryzanowska and her Daughter Sari Mejia trained her to become a teacher . She was lucky enough to teach alongside them at Drago's Gym beginning in the fall of 2003. Currently, you can find her independently teaching across NYC with the same enthusiasm and joy as day one with a touch of added wisdom ;)
